What is your background / what do you do for a living? What are your hobbies?

My background is pretty varied! It ranges from serving in the Canadian Reserves to financial manager to payroll services to event management. My most enjoyed jobs have always been the unpaid kind – I have been involved with many charities over the years. Most recently I have been lucky enough to be a stay at home momma to a crazy little jawa!

When did you see Star Wars for the first time and where?

I was born the year A New Hope came out, so I would have been exposed pretty early. My first solid memory is in my early teens, that iconic scene with Carrie Fisher as slave Leia. She was so unbelievably amazing, taking her freedom into her own hands and offing Jabba that she became my role model.

What is your favourite Star Wars movie?

That is such a hard question!! Original Trilogy I would have to go with Return of the Jedi because of how adorably ridiculous the Ewoks are. New movies I think Rogue One is totally amazing.

What is your favourite costume and or prop (any franchise)?

As a gamer I have always loved things from World of Warcraft. Cosplayers who have put together actual costumes from game references blow me away! The skill of the graphic designers boggles my brain.

What costumes (SW related or otherwise) have you made before?

For several years my Mom and I went to the Halloween parties at the Vancouver Aquarium, and I made all our costumes for those. So I have done a gypsy, Anne Boleyn and Scarlett O’Hara for Mom, and a belly dancer, cabaret girl, vampire temptress and some others for myself. I once borrowed a Slave Leia and LOVED it! Ah to be young and sassy again!

What inspires you creatively, spiritually or emotionally?

Charity! I absolutely live for finding a cause that I can believe in and supporting it. My special joy is running events to raise money and/or awareness for a great charity. It allows my bossy nature to have an outlet while making people around my happy instead of grumpy lol

How did you first find out about the 501st Legion?

I worked with Variety the Childrens Charity for about 18 years, mostly on the Telethon and other large events. I eventually became a Board Member and had input on everything there. Outer Rim of course was involved in troops for Telethon and the Fan Expo, and I really got to know people at the Expo a few years ago. Destiny calling? Perhaps!

What drives you to stay trooping in the 501st Legion?

Having managed events for so long, at times it could get a bit stressful. Being with the 501st is so amazing, in that we get to show up to an event, put on a costume that people think is cool, make people happy and go home. Star Wars is so iconic in our culture that the way people get so excited makes me bounce with delight. I know you guys have compared me to a toddler on too much sugar at events, but honestly what could possibly be better than what we do?!?!

If you were to get a job at LucasFilm, what would it be?

I have been learning 3D modelling, so being able to do that would be awesome! Going to see a movie and being able to say “See that crate? The one that Darth Vader just pulverized? I MADE that crate!” would be so cool. Either that or be a Professional Cupcake Girl. My whole job would be to wander the offices to see what everyone is doing and give out cupcakes to make everyone happy. That’s a real job, right?
