Featured Trooper: Trevor Elkey

What is your background / what do you do for a living? What are your hobbies?
Growing up on Vancouver Island and moving with my family as a child to northern BC I have been fortunate enough to live in many areas of our amazing province. Now as a husband and father of 3 little Star Wars fans, my family and I have set our roots in Prince George, BC.

I am employed by CN Rail in the Transportation division. Most of my spare time is taken up primarily by my family and what time I have remaining I enjoy mountain biking, target shooting and building and flying remote controlled multi rotor aerial race vehicles.

When did you see Star Wars for the first time and where?
The first time I saw Star Wars I was when I was 4 years old. My father went to see Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back at a theatre in Nanaimo with a friend of his and I tagged along. I remember little of the actual movie itself, more the fact that when I see it to this day it still rekindles fond memories, so I will assume that I enjoyed it!

What is your favorite Star Wars movie?
The first Star Wars movie that I ever saw was The Empire Strikes Back, it will always remain my favourite.

What is your favorite costume and or prop (any franchise)?
This is a tough question to answer and my answer may be shocking. While I absolutely love all things Star Wars especially the Boba Fett costumes, my all time favourite costume is the amour that Isaac Clarke wears in the game Dead Space.

What costumes (SW related or otherwise) have you made before?
The ESB Boba Fett was my first ever true costume.

What inspires you creatively, spiritually or emotionally?
Honestly I am not sure what drives my creativity. I know I always have to be doing something with my hands, and typically if it involves electronics or attention to small details – I find I can get lost in a project quite quickly.

How did you first find out about the 501st Legion?
I originally heard about the 501st Legion when I was cruising The Dented Helmet in 2009, I kept reading about them, and wondered what it was all about. Google is your friend, and a after a bit of searching and educating myself, I took the plunge.

What drives you to stay trooping in the 501st Legion?
What drives me to keep trooping are the people I meet and the positive impact that can be made.

If you were to get a job at LucasFilm, what would it be?
A job that I would truly enjoy would be working with props and animatronics.
